Welles has held CFO and CIO positions at emerging technology and service companies, joining teams to help them stage for growth or other transitions, often as the first executive in these roles. His niche is developing organizational capacity to enable scale operations. Welles has varied and deep experience with budget and planning, capital raising, upgrading management information systems, professionalizing investor relations, and modernizing accounting and enterprise risk management. Welles has worked in SaaS, enterprise software, manufacturing, air charter, professional services and social services firms.
Since leaving commercial banking 20 years ago Welles has managed reorganizations, recapitalizations, startups and and re-starts for a number of growth stage companies in New England.
Hatch holds a B.A. from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and an M.B.A. in international business finance from The George Washington University. He also has studied overseas, including schools in China, Taiwan, and the United Kingdom.
Welles has served on public and private company boards and maintains an active involvement with a variety of community service organizations. He is Treasurer and Trustee of the Scholarship Fund of Concord & Carlisle. He has served on Salesforce Foundation CIO Council, as board chair of Habitat for Humanity/Boston and Professional Development Cmte chair of Financial Executives International/Boston.
